Fuzel ($1.99)

Fuzel takes collage-making to a whole-new level. Unique layout-cutting tool. Camera. Facebook Photos. Filters. Outlines. Base colors. Frames. Captions. But that’s not what makes Fuzel great. Among its many features, there’s one thing that’s Fuzel exceptionally good at - it lets you create photo collages that only you can make. It lets you be you.

Key Features:

  • The Cutting Tools
  • Camera
  • Editing Tools

My Review:

During my first attempt at using the app, I have to admit, I was a bit confused. There isn't anything difficult about it, it's just that I wasn't sure where to start. The prompts on the screen advised me to start with a frame which could be usable at times, but for my example, I just wanted to start with a picture. To do this, you simply click on the box with the crosshairs. However, I did learn that you should choose one of the first three frames, as this is what selects your aspect ratio (square, 2:3, 4:3).

When taking the picture, I noticed that I couldn't click on the screen to set my focus in the initial screen, but it is available in the full-screen capture mode. However, I didn't find the focus to be as accurate as the standard camera app on my iPhone, and it did not adjust exposure and white balance. What's frustrating is that I could not capture a photo in landscape mode, as it locks the photo into the portrait mode. For this reason, I would most likely take my pictures with the camera app and import them into Fuzel. However, in order to do this you must turn location services on for the app.

After taking the picture, I was provided several options which included manually slicing the photo, changing the layout, or adjusting the outlines, base color or frame.

For my sample, I chose to just cut mine up manually. Slicing up the image was very simple. I then selected each section and started editing. There are 18 photo filters included which are similar to many of the other photo apps I have used. After manipulating each slice, I clicked done and was provided with several options, including edit, share, delete, or browse.

The sharing options include Save to Gallery, Email, Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr.

Overall I liked the app as it combined several features from some of my favorite apps, and I will post pictures as I start to use the app.

Result!
